One of the things I love about my oils is that we have been able to replace so many toxic household items with oily awesomeness. So when my husband said he needed to run to the store for more comet to clean the shower I was like “Wait! What?! No you don’t! I can make something!” That’s when I got “the look”. You know the look. The look of skepticism when you mention something oily working just as well or better than it’s chemically laden counterpart.
So I said the only thing I could – “Just give it a try. If it doesn’t work, you can go to the store and buy whatever you want.” He agreed. So I whipped up this Thieves Scrub! I used the scrub that was on the spoon I used to mix it all together to clean our white kitchen sink (seriously, who thought a white kitchen sink was a good idea?!) and… it became sparkling clean in under a minute. No joke.
My husband looked at me and said “Well, you used a sponge.” Haha! As opposed to…. 😉 I sent him off to try it on the shower. And if you’re wondering why he’s cleaning the shower instead of me, well, it’s because we struck that deal long ago. I hate cleaning the bathrooms. So when we first discussed housework, I said – you clean the bathrooms and I’ll do the rest, he happily agreed. Now that we have 3 kids, he does so much more than that though! He’s a great help around the house and a good sport of me turning his non-oily world upside down as I replace all of his tried and true toxic stuff. 😉
This Thieves Cleaner has replaced soooo many cleaning items in our house! Plus, it’s a concentrate so it lasts months! One bottle lasted me about 9 months. $22 for 9 months of countless cleaning uses. Yes, please! We add a capful to a spray bottle with water and use it to clean all of the counters. I’ve sprayed it on spills on the rugs and carpets to clean. I’ve added some to our steam mop to clean the wood floors. My list goes on and on!
So what was the verdict from the shower?! It worked GREAT! Just wipe some Thieves Surface Scrub all over where you want to clean, let it sit for a minute, and give it a quick scrub! So easy and works incredibly well! My husband was impressed.
So how do you make it? Get yourself a bowl to mix the ingredients in and then:
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1/3 cup Castile Soap
- 2 tbsp Thieves Cleaner
Mix well! You can leave it in the bowl to store it, or add it into an old squeeze bottle! You’ll love this. Try it!
